I have always been fascinated by Indian folk art and folklores. In this series of artworks, I am weaving unconventional stories and ideas in artwork through traditional motifs of the Kalamkari Art Form.
In 2019, in the spirit of ‘National Poetry Writing’ month, a series of artwork were rolled out on social media as Art Poetry Prompts throughout the month of April. The innovative contest was organized by Shweta and Bullock Cart Poetry. The contest challenged the participants to write poetry based on the interpretation of the given artwork. The poets and writers created their own stories around the artworks. The response was overwhelming, poets all around the country participated in the contest, submitted their entries in different languages.
It was a true depiction of ‘Art has no language’
